- I blinked (okay, more like overslept) and I missed the Bondarenko/Dulko match. Looks like I didn't miss much.
- It has been a weird tournament. There are no Russian women in the quarterfinals but, believe it or not, two Belgians. What is this, 2003? Meanwhile, there are no American men left in the tournament for the first time ever.
- I was 5 for 7 in my predictions for yesterday. Not terrible, but let's see if I can do better this time:
- Clijsters defeats Li
- Serena defeats Pennetta (I'd love to be wrong about this)
- Tsonga defeats Gonzalez
- Monfils defeats Nadal
- Del Potro defeats Ferrero
- Murray defeats Cilic

Hello Callie.
Monfils-Nadal still in progress. I was watching Nadal during the warmup, looked like overheads and serves weren't a problem but a stomach pull is likely to get progressively worse. Mostly for that reason, I think you made the correct call.
Cilic over Murray? I heard someone say Murray looked tired. Well, now he can take a nap.
Gonzalez over Tsonga surprised me too but when he puts his mind to it and he's healthy Gonzalez is a very tough nut. He's one of those guys that will be in the special wing in the hall of fame: "Players who would have one or more Majors but don't because of Roger Federer." It will be a large exhibit.
I thought Flavia acquitted herself well against Serena. And I thought Serena acquittted herself well during the post-match product placement / book promotion.
New business: Wickmayer v. Bondarenko - This will be the first qtr final in US Open history played to a half full court 16. It is not often Someone who I've never heard of (Wickmayer that is, everybody knows Bondarenko) gets to a second round of a major much less a qtr final.
Wozniacki v. Oudin
I'll go with the years (or is it year) of experience and pick Woz.
Oh yeah, I think Federer will beat Soderling also. I really didn't have to say that, did I?
Regards to all,
Mike in Etters
